Geothermal heating

Of around 350 drilling companies in Sweden, only ten or so also install heat pumps. We both drill for geothermal heating and install heat pumps.

Geothermal heating works in more or less the same way as ground source heating, but the difference is that you do not drill, but install a long loop (known as a collector) at a depth of one metre below ground level. The liquid is heated up in the loop and pumped up to distribute heat in the building’s heating and water system. Once the heat has been extracted from the liquid, it is pumped back down again.
